Hi everyone, I will say I was a big litestep user back in the day, but since then haven’t used it in a long time and still continue to use XP, BUT what I have started to do was work with CarPC’s still working on mine to get done, but have been doing a lot of research and it seems that litestep would be perfect for the carPC area, its so flexible and customizable especially maybe getting LS to work with XPe that would be very nice since a lot of people are using CF fast cards with sata adaptors and using the XPe.

With a special module to interpret finger gestures to do more then just a click since you don’t have a right or left click you need gestures to interpret more commands/inputs, a module is needed for this, since a few apps might have voice commands im sure there is a way to tap into that, if not get regular commands for app/prog?

Also I know LS is great on ability to save memory speed up and customize :) as well as less intensive on CPU? (depending how its setup)

A big place to check out if users would be interested would be at mp3car.com I think users would really love to personalize something like Litestep to their apps and car.

Please consider this. Also please accept my apologies if this has been talked about or is even in existence since I was just browsing trying to get a feel for what I could do for a skin with some of the stuff they have out there.

I know there are a lot of talented people here so this would be a really nice addition/division I think it’s a niche if you would call it for a shell replacement/customization

i really would like to see someone try this out, a special module to take on finger gestures to do more shortcuts and other operations that what is seen today on mobile phones/gadgets would be super, thats what you would need, and i think it would be simple to do? once a module is created to recognize different gestures it would work great, since your limited to touch screen, you really want to be able to do different gestures to do different things.

i think its possible i don’t remember, but it would be really nice to use the virtual desktops to create specific gui's for different areas, one would be music lets say, other is video, one is for gps, another is for browser or something like that, with different buttons and layouts, this is a must because still the desktop real state on a 7-10" touch screen is small.

I think litestep can do this :) I fully understand the limitations with interfacing with apps/programs if they do not have command lines or other means to interpret or mimic commands, but either way LS is able to great a finger friendly environment for the CarPC more so then other theme programs out there which are not even full shell replacements :P

There was a LS theme released probably 3 or 4 years ago for the CarPC world. I agree that it is a really good interface for that world and nothing is stopping you from doing it. There is a gestures module for LS already so you should be ok with doing that. And you wouldn't need to configure a VWM, just some scripting to get your interfaces to change as you needed based on clicks. Good luck
