Go to your start menu folder for Litestep...

x:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Start Menu\Programs\LiteStep

...and run "Set Explorer as shell." Reboot and figure out what went wrong.

I have no start menu, I have no desktop at all. I uninstalled it through luck of keystrokes to get an explorer window open.

Re-installed, same problem, unistalled, reinstalled to try a different setting and it just suddenly worked.

For future reference...

You realize your start menu is just a folder with shortcuts, right?

Alt+Ctrl+Del to open the Windows Task Manager. Click File, then New Task. Click Browse and change Files of Type to All. Go to the folder I stated above, select the shortcut, run it.

I know it's a folder for shortcuts, but if I have NOTHING but a wallpaper it's kinda hard to get to them. and the new task just opens my run command window O.o

For more future reference...

If you had done what I said above, you'd notice that works just like explorer.
