I have 3 HP laptops, all based on nVidia chipsets, all using turion processors, all with non-keyboard buttons for volume control and quickplay and whatnot, only the buttons only work with explorer as a shell. When I go to Litestep, the buttons stop working - but on one the button still makes noise to indicate it was hit, just never changes the volume or anything. I have not found anything in startup that makes them work. I had a similiar situation with Toshiba buttons but it was a start-up issue and I found the thing I needed to run to make them work, but in HP-land I can run 100% of the startup items with litestep as shell and the buttons still have no effect!.
Anyone find out why or make a replacement program to read them and modify volume for you or something? I have heard of a module to scan for keyboard entries to find the code for non-standard inputs and bind them but though I cannot remember the name of it I did try it and the way it acted told me these buttons were not tied into the keyboard device.
