I recently got a new laptop with vista buisness installed on it. I've put litestep on it and now when I change my wallpaper it won't "stick" it'll change but when I shutdown and restart it just shows the colour that has been set as the background colour. Also I run object dock and since installing litestep it opens it's option menu whenever I boot up

I've tried different themes and switching the shell back to explorer and found that everything works as it should when running explorer. I also checked the theme.rc and step.rc files for my theme to see if there was anything there but didn't find anything (I had the same problem when running litestep on 2000 and xp which I solved by deleting some lines).

Any suggestions?

as far as what i've heard, people get a lot of different bugs while running LS on vista. for your wallpaper problem, maybe you could use a wallpaper changing module, and just call something like:

*script start !wallpapermodule wallpaper.png

as far as the object dock thing... why not just ditch that all together and make one with litestep?

thanks for the object dock tip, i never thought of that.

any idea if maybe the wallpaper is being handled by explorer in vista? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the desktop was handled by a different service or atleast a different instance of explorer, maybe it's been changed in vista

I don´t know if that's correct, but for me deactivating the aero theme solved the problem with the wallpaper. With the basic Vista theme even the wallpaper switcher works.

or better yet, use Linux :)
course, you'll have to dual boot to use litestep :)
