Litestep can't launch explorer, help plz. Thread last updated on 2007-11-06 21:29:04

I just reformatted my pc and instead of using an installer I just copied my old litestep dir over and then mucked with the registry.

Unfortunately I think I changed something I shouldn't have...

I can't get explorer (the file manager) to launch. If I open up my popup and click "file explorer" nothing happens, not even an error message. If I open up lsxcommand and type "C:\" I get a "The system cannot find the file specified" error.

Only way I can get into explorer is to navigate to My Computer in the popup, right-click, and click open.

Any idea how I can get directories to be associated with explorer? Because that seems to be what's wrong...

Wolzly!

Have you tried just using the installer at this point? For the popup, don't forget to set your evar to explorer.exe in your evars.rc file.

Ah xcal, I am a moron.

I kinda forgot that \Windows\ was on my I:\ drive.

I ran the setevar app and configured everything, but for some reason it saved all the evars referencing to .exe's on the C:\ drive, regardless of where I actually told it the files were.

Yay back up to 100% litestep efficiency :D

SetVar uses some registry key to find out where the file is stored. Since you didn't run the installer the registry entry isn't there so all the apps that came with LS will not work.

The LS installer puts info for litestep in the registry?

I thought it only needed to set the shell key to litestep.exe from explorer.exe ...

LiteStep does only need that. The utilities that came with the installer require more.
