Litestep Problems Thread last updated on 2007-09-16 13:37:24

I have not attempted to install a new litestep theme for a while, but when i do now it says that access is denied. I think this could mean that I need to update my LS version, but I'm not sure how to go about it.
I just installed the new download (as of july '07) and read the readme file. (First I could not extract the files to my litestep folder; it said that there were errors concerning the installed files or something), but then I read the readme and quit litestep before extracting the files to my litestep folder. Success.
I replaced all of the old files already existing with the new ones when asked and the rebooted like it said in the readme, however when I logged back in litestep still told me that access was denied when trying to install any new theme.
I can switch existing themes fine, just not install newer ones.
Some other things that I have tried to do with litestep recently have also told me, "access denied".
If anyone could offer their assistance in this I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
Alex

Edit: I just reinstalled litestep, now i cannot even install the old themes. This is REALLY ANNOYING!
No litestep files work at all now.

Edit: When trying to install themes it (with the proper utility) it says, "decompression of theme archive failed" and does not install the theme, plus anything else related to litestep seems to no longer be working.

Check your file permissions. Is your computer user account part of the administrator group?

Can you extract ZIP archives without any trouble?

yeah i can, the only thing stopping me from unzipping the first one was the fact that litestep was still running i think, but other are all fine.
