Hi everyone!

Im new to Litestep, and ofcourse i got the problem with modules can´t load when i try to load up themes.
I´ve got Omar´s version and i have updated it to 0.24.7 and i got all files from this site. The wierd thing is that even the standard theme austerity got this problem. I have already tried to get all dlls and xPaintClass.. but it still dont work. Anyone got anymore tips on how to fix this? Ivé been sitting with this problem for many hours now and this is my last try before i throw this (what it seems to be) great program to hell :P

Thx // nyr

Did you try that package that was recently added to the Downloads section?

yepp, i think so the file was Litestep-Updater v. 0.24.7 r3 (updated 10 jul 07)

and that didn't help? By chance are you behind a proxy?

That's strange. The austerity theme should work even with the omar-installer and no update. You should only get problems if you load recent themes into an unmodified omar-installation.

My suggestion: uninstall LS, reboot with explorer, use omar's installer and no update, reboot and see if it works. After that update and see if it still works. Only then begin installing themes.

Or: use the LOSI-Installer (http://www.tlundberg.com/LOSI/). That is a minimal installation but current enough so that most recent themes should work (works for me anyway). It is beta, meaning that some of the utilities (like theme-installer) may behave a little strange, but the LS-core of the distro seems OK.

And don't mind the LOSI-default-theme, just install a new one :)

I am getting exactly the same issue here. I've already tried every suggestion mentioned in this thread and I am still getting the same error. Omar not updated, Omar updated and LOSI all do the same thing.

Just so you know I have been using Litestep for the past couple of years and so far this is my first major issue, any help would be much appreciated :).

" i got the problem with modules can´t load" apart from the obvious english problem, this does not remotely describe the problem. You should at least describe what happens, with which modules and what the error message is. There can be a lot problems with modules, so try to be more specific.

I've got the same issue as THC4k. No matter what I do it won't go away. I've even tried the fix.

rofl

ok. now, one of you have this "problem", please try to explain it in detail, with verbatim text of any errors you are getting? Thanks.

If you need more information there is no need to be rude about it. It seems to be every module on every theme that I try to load fails. Some themes like Austerity still partially work others don't work at all.

OK I just loaded up Litestep again and noticed that it says which module failed when the error pops up --sorry for being a noob-- but I didn't notice that. The modules that fail on Austerity (omar whithout update) are:

taskbar3-0.306_alpha-3.dll
syscolor-2.3.dll
lsxcommand-1.8.5.dll

chamaleonDEV_317786-1296 (omar, no update):

xpopup-1.3.1.dll
xlabel-3.6.2.dll
xtextedit-0.6.dll
xtaskbar-1.5.2.dll
xtray-1.1.1.dll

popsicle_0.1.3 (omar, no update):

xtextedit-0.5.dll
comdlgls-0.7.dll
xtaskbar-1.5.1.dll
xtray-1.1.1.dll
xpopup-1.3.1.dll
xlabel-3.6.2.dll
mzscript-1.0.1.dll

After updating with Litestep-Updater (1) Ver: 0.24.7 r3, I have excactly the same modules failing on these three themes.

After installing xPaintClass-1.0dll from http://www.ls-universe.info, as suggested in this (http://www.litestep.net/index.php?section=4&action=view&catId=2&id=6239) thread I still get the same issue.

As well, despite not having done such exhaustive testing it seems that the same modules are failing to load if I use the LOSI installer, or the Dist.ru Installer 1.4 from LS-Universe. I have also tried updating to the latest experimental build (Experimental Build: 2007-07-08) all to no avail.

Note: This only started to occur yesterday after I noticed the update and installed it. The update worked beautifully at first but, after restarting my comp this mess started happening. Also note that I have fully uninstall, restarted with explorer enabled and reinstalled before trying each of the installers I mentioned earlier.

for those modules, you need in your litestep folder:

msvcp60.dll
msvcp71.dll
msvcr71.dll

Also, what Windows OS are you using?

Austerity should work out of the box with no internet connection or anything. Everything that theme needs to run comes with the installer.

Posted by member 305273 on 2007-07-19 21:28:23 link

I'm using Windows XP Pro SP2 fully updated, nothing unusual there. I just tried putting those dll's in my litestep directory, although I didn't have much hope that it would work as I already have them in my sys32 dir.

As for Austerity working out of the box, it always has; up until yesterday that is. I'm still hoping someone can figure out the problem, I am certainly stumped.

edit: If I wasn't too clear there the dll's didn't help

Try adding litestep.exe to the DEP exclusion list

Posted by member 305273 on 2007-07-20 08:04:39 link

syscolor-2.3.dll

Still didn't load, but the other 2 did, I don't have any time to play with other themes and recycling and updating and whatnot now, I will after work in 12 hours.

Thanks for this tip jugg!!

DEP, who would have tought of that? :)

Posted by member 305273 on 2007-07-20 20:31:44 link

Yup, that was it! All the themes work again! Thanks again jugg and thanks to everyone else who gave suggestions.
