Um... why is it that your site is unable to store session cookies? I hate having to relogin every time I close the browser window. Don't give me the "stores username and p***word combos " rubbish - Internet Explorer does that with ease. Just add a session cookie!
And what's wrong with the word pa$$word? Just because it has "a$$" in it? Piffle. Kindly improve your "foul-language-filter" so it only looks for the complete word, not anything containing the word.
If you would have looked through the forums you would have found your answer to your question. I will not be adding session cookies. I will not be chaning the idle time. I will not be changing the layout at user demand. There are reasons why things are the way they are and you will learn to deal with them.
I've looked through the forum, and you haven't once said why you force people to relogin every time they close and reopen. In other words, what's your reason?
Odd I found it quite quickly...
HERE and
HERE
But that doesn't answer the question... a session cookie is not a problematic thing to add... certainly it's used in nearly every other login system in the known universe...
You say you have "squashed the bug" but the only bug is the lack of a seemingly vital feature.
It is problematic when you loose a free host over it. It is not changing...give it up.
I don't see how you'll lose your host by adding one little option to make your users that little bit happier. A website is designed with the users in mind. I do not give up easily.
It is a restriction put on us as a condition of our free hosting. I personally do not have the hundreds of dollars to put up for the site given the hits and bandwidth we have.
So you're restricted to this useless login system? Sounds pretty harsh, but OK. That's an acceptable reason. I just didn't like the tone your reply conjured up. Sorry.
I didn't like the tone of your post in asking me to repeat myself again so I guess we are even.
Anyways...with all the problems this site has had in the past with users their request is not out of the ordinary to me and I respect it and agree totally.
I think I can begin to see your point.
apologies for even bringing this up elsewhere - I'd have apologized there but it's been locked on me.
*flogs himself for not skimming the rest of the forum prior to posting his other complaint on this identical issue*
