Ive been going through editing all of the .rc's in notepad for a long flippin time, but there has got to be a better way. What software do you all use to create your .rc's?

This is a section to submit code snippets, so be prepared to be moved muwahaha...

To answer the question, some good notepad replacements are UltraEdit32 (not free), Notepad++ (free), and EditPadLite (free).

how do those editors help editing a step.rc file specifically?

Well... it's harder to modify the text when you're using the "poke disk with magnetized paper clip" method.

I usually end up with multiple rc files open, so I guess the most helpful thing is having tabs.

I was looking for a good application to help me organize my 'thoughts' better than just having a bunch of unformatted text in notepad. ALL of the replacements recommended are great. I havent decided what im going to stick with, but they are all definitely a positive change.

I appreciate all of the responses and suggestions. Ive decided that i really like Notepad ++. It has tabs (which im incredibly use to thanks to firefox), text highlighting, numbered lines (well, all have this) and yeah, i personally really like it.

Thanks again guys. You've made my litestep coding experience that much better. :)
