Firefox Downloads box opening explorer shell Thread last updated on 2006-11-27 11:43:32

I used Firefox (2.0). When I download a file, as is normal, the downloads box opens up. Down at the bottom of the box is the button to open up the downloads folder. When I click on that button, it uses the windows explorer shell to open the folder instead of sending it to litestep.

Has anyone else had this problem? Or, even better, know how to fix it?

I'm not sure if this is LS or FF that's at fault, but I updated to 2.0 right after I had to replace my HDD (and re-install LS), so I'm not sure which is the problem.

I didn't use the easy installer, so I would not be surprised if it were just a registry entry that needs to be changed or something.

Thanks a bunch!

It uses the *file manager* to open the folder. LS is not a file manager, but explorer is. Explorer is also a shell, and a browser, and... well, you get the idea.

...but if the explorer shell opened you did miss a registry entry. Go verify your registry again against the install docs.

I checked the registry stuffs. In order to not set it up such that all users use litestep, I set HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell to:
USR:Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

I'm not sure if that will set it so that other users will still be able to use explorer or not, but that's what I'm going for. I want the default shell to be explorer, litestep only for those who want it, but it's not that big of a deal - nobody else really uses this computer besides me.
