Explorer desktop broken after uninstall... Thread last updated on 2006-11-22 20:54:33

Litestep is cool and all, got it working, loaded up a few differnt themes, ect. ect...

I later uninstalled it and then my desktop in Explorer shell is broken. Nothing on the desktop shows up as if it was still in a modified Litestep shell. I still have a start menu so I'm able to do everything else as normal, just no viewable desktop functionality except for right click.

has anyone ever heard of this happening and knows how to fix it? thanks...

what other functionality were you expecting?

Probably the icons. Perhaps they got turned off somehow? IIRC, they can be shown again via options in that right-click menu, however.

you can't turn off recycling bin, least i dont know how, and its not there. i've tried turning them all back on, they were off before the litestep install but i at least had a recycling bin.

and devilboi i dont understand what you are asking, unless you are being a smart ass...

I don't have any icons on my desktop in explorer..I shut them off. The problem you are having is not some function of LS. Did you install something else like WindowBlinds?

in the past i have had a stardock them installed, thats nothing tho.

the problem is no matter what i try, im not a moron, i cant get the icons back on... ive tried every logical fix but no luck. its functioning as if a LightStep theme with no desktop moduels was still installed while in the Explorer shell.

First, yes, you can turn off the recycle bin.

Have you tried using TweakUI?
