I would like to share a problem I believe I have resolved involving the use of nlite and litestep. (http://www.nliteos.com/)
After I had made a few cd's testing different compiles of windowsXP (From Very Lite to Just a few changes.)
Every single version would not run a few program properly.
Including Litestep. Many DLLs would not load with the shell (such as taskbar3-0.306_alpha-3.dll, syscolor-2.3.dll ect.)
What i found was a a pretty simple answer.. for some reason. DEP (data execution prevention) was set to monitor EVERY thing and not on its normal setting of just system files and services. Litestep would not recognize this was the problem. but another program I was having problems with did. (Half-Life)
So I added the programs i was having problems with to the DEP list to ignore and they worked like a charm.
(The programs were MineField (firefox nightly beta), Half-life (not steam itself) and Litestep)
Since i was on the verge of asking for help, I figured I would post this for anyone that may have a similar problem.
