Slow startup Thread last updated on 2003-04-11 16:42:04

When I boot up my computer now with Litestep (OTS), it'll sit at the XP "welcome" screen for maybe 7 seconds.. far longer than windows explorer. In fact, with explorer, I hardly notice the "welcome" screen it comes up so fast.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything I can do to it?

If you had read through the forums you would have noticed this discussion has taking place a few times, the current solution is disable the welcome screen and use the classic logon. The classic logon will significantly increase you boot time. :)

Oh, sorry. I did a search on "slow" and didn't find anything so I went ahead and posted this. Thanks though.

And with the recent new Litestep releases the startup time in XP is much faster. Never had any form of delay in startup since.

That, and (on my machine at least) I can handle a little delay for it to go from the logon screen to the desktop.... I'm using less swap, less paging file and less CPU and I have more available system memory at boot than I ever had with WinXP Pro. I can handle a few extra seconds to the desktop for an overall benifit like that. :-)

The delay they are speaking of is about a full minute and sometimes more. And that thread that was linked and found in the searches gets it back down to any other shell loading. I just really wish users would look before speaking.
