Full Screen Applications Thread last updated on 2006-11-12 21:39:20

Mainly games. World Of WarCraft, Oblivion... damn near anything that goes full screen actually. I'm a new Litestep user and I've searched around a few websites to find out whats happening. This is my first time posting on a forum to ask about it... so please be gentle.

I'm running Windows XP. There are two problems and they both seem to be tied to litestep. :\

The first is that when I have full screen applications running, there are parts of litestep trying to poke up behind the app. Doesn't really matter what theme I'm using (Not with any of the ones I've tested it with anyway). Not so much a problem but really annoying.

The second problem is the worse one. Whenever I close an application it doesn't actually close. The program seems to terminate and it should flash a black screen and go back to the desktop like normal. However, it flashes the black screen and then sits on it for anywhere between 20 minutes to at least more than 2 hours. Music may still be playing in the background, certain key commands seem to get movement out of the system and I can still move the mouse pointer. I just don't usually get back to the desktop. It also does not seem to be based on theme.

I'll be thankful for whatever help I can get and I can also provide any info that you may need in order to try to help fix it.

From the !about box changes log:

- If "LSAutoHideModules" is specified LS tries to automatically hide all module windows if a full-screen app is detected. Once the full-screen app exits the modules are redisplayed.

Give that a try first. If you still have problems there are other workarounds.

When I tried !About I didn't see anything that looked like LSAutoHideModules on any of the info tabs. This is probably going to be newbie question and it hurts me a bit to ask something that seems rather simple, but where might I find it or turn it on at?

open your litestep profile folder and put "LSAutoHideModules" somewhere in profile.rc

It's in the plain text that's displayed under "Changes" - unless that's not one of the options for the plain old !about box. I use xAbout-1.0.dll, so perhaps it's an added option there.

I've spent the better part of my free time today looking for anything that might resemble profile.rc and I was unable to find anything. I hate to ask something that seems like such a simple question.. but where do I find profile.rc?

He means "personal.rc" ;)

By default, it should be in C:\litestep\profiles\Xaveck\personal\personal.rc

I started getting the blank screen problem with newer nvidia drivers, but I've found a workaround. Just press ctrl + alt + delete and then press escape and you should have a functional desktop again.

Ok. Thank you. The problem has gotten better since I added in the Autohide as well.

You've all been very helpful! :)

Brian sighting! About time... moving took you forever.

There are several stories in there. =) And I'm only finished moving in the sense that there is nothing left to move *out* of the old place. The unpacking and organizing bit still has a long way to go. Just today I got to go renew my Driver's License (and update the address on it), change my address at the Credit Union, pick up a FedEx package that came later than expected and then couldn't be delivered (to my old address), etc. There's a huge ripple effect to this whole moving thing. We won't even talk about not being able to find my pants...

So... from that statement we have learned that a) you only own one pair of pants, and b) you typed that in your underwear (hopefully -- and don't take that the wrong way).

Well, that's an interesting side note there - what *is* the plural of pants? =P

Posted by member 1885 on 2006-11-04 13:12:11 link

"Pantses". At least if you're Gollum.

Posted by member 5575 on 2006-11-04 13:19:09 link

"Hmmmm, I wants it, my pantses."

FF2 spell checker thinks it's wrong, however. In any case, I've found my pantses now, so no worries.

The plural of pants is pants. If you want to show possession it is pants'.

Oh look, it's someone's sense of humor. Did anyone here lose theirs by any chance?

Not me. I've still got at least a dollar's worth.

You can not place a monetary value on humour :|

I was with you until I read "Oil me."

Yep, that sounds just a bit too personal, IMO.
