Ok, I recently installed the Gnome 1.0 theme by Fatec and now I am the proud owner of two of each icon? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hiya, thanks for using my theme, i forgot to remove some of the old code, im not at home right now and off the top of my head i cant remember what to remove but as soon as i get back i'll post the bit of code.

I use the same theme. There is twice defined to use desktop.rc (and uncommented) ;) just comment or remove one of these...
