ok i'm tired of "magic pink(tm)"
can alpha-transparent png's be used with shortcut2.dll (and it should look transparent too ;)?

it might work with layercut, which I think is specifically made for this sort of stuff.

so it's: "screw shortcut2, use layercut"?
or is it more reasonable to load both modules and use layercut only with transparent png's?
or should i use shortcut3? (does that support alpha-transparency?)

If you want true per pixel transparency use layercut.. You won't even need magic pink. Just open a new image with a transparent background and save as a png.

As for the use of bmps, you can still use those with layercut as well. Though you will have to use magic pink within a bmp image for transparency.

Layercut is so great !!!

Remember, however, that layercut will only work on Win2K or WinXP.

Yeah, but more and more ppl are useing 2k/XP.. I understand Litestep needs to continue support for the poor ppl still useing 98/me, but how long before attention should be shifted to 2k/XP?
Layercut is a beautifull example of the dirrection I'd like to see litestep go.

Sounds like a litestep.net feature in the making *cough*
Having a java script pick up client resolution and OS and dump it to be viewable in a graph maybe?

can't say that I really care about what OS or res people are running at. I know for sure that the resolution is larger than 640x480 and that is all I care about. :)

I don't think it's time yet to drop 9x. The disadvantages outweigh (sp?) the advantages, except for those already on 2k/xp.
