How do I move the task bar to the top? Thread last updated on 2006-09-28 10:31:08

Hi all,

Some of the themes I use have built in options to move the task bar; I like mine on the top instead of the bottom. I am using "Dreaming Of" and asked the question in the comments section of the theme but have not gotten a response.

Is there a variable in one of the rc files that applies to all themes that I need to edit, or is it theme dependant?

TIA,

Depends on how the theme is made. If it's a bar with all its components hooked in to one label, it could be as simple as changing one value. If the theme is made up of many components, you may have to change many values.

Anyway, bottom line, it's theme dependant, and Dreaming Of's bar is made up of many different pieces.

Thanks xcal, from looking at the config files I guessed as much; trying to move it that way ended up taking a small chunk of it which of course is less than optimal :D

It's easier when you start out with the idea of making a theme "adjustable". If everything in the bar is hooked into a single xlabel you can move it (or alphashade/fade it) with one easy step. That's not how many themes are constructed, however.
