Puny Windows Dialog Boxes ... Thread last updated on 2006-09-24 06:29:28

Years back, I had both a Registry Tweak as well as Software to re-configure any
< OPEN > , < BROWSE > and < SAVE AS > Dialog box under the Windows Environment, as these are far too puny to get any decent oversight, esp. when searching for a file to < OPEN > .

Both the Tweak and the Software rendered these boxes full-screen, eliminating all the 'micro-scrolling' when looking for some file on Drive T:\ some 12 Folder Trees down.

What a nuisance. Although I can re-size these windows by dragging the bottom right across and down, they won't stay that way, esp. after the next re-boot, again defaulting back to 20% of the viewable screen area.

I am not looking for any open codes, DLL resizing scripts, javascripts or bitmap environments, or anything having to do with Browser Windows. These Tweaks affected the dialogs under the Operating System from Windows 95 right through to WinXP.

If anyone could shine any Light on this, it would be appreciated.

it may not be what you are looking for, but this small patch 'MultiEnhancer' certainly eased my gripe about tiny "openfile" dialog boxes.

Anyone else nervous about clicking a link by fractal with that name? =\

(But wow, nice tiny app. Works great...I'm going to use that myself, thanks. ;))

Definetly the best dialog app I could find in my vast searching, I have it running all the time and get a shock whenever I look at my process listing

Great app, that dude should make it a high priority update for windows (or a tweakUI tool) and live comfortably for the rest of his days (making more updates XD)

I'm running it now, too. Anybody have a similarly good performer that gives you a "favorites" and "recent" folder list for those dialog boxes? I was running OSD.exe, but it wouldn't eliminate duplicates in the "recent" list and you couldn't delete them unless you edited the registry or cleared everything. Dialogmate is close, but the "recent" folders list doesn't seem to get updated properly, at least for me. It keeps the folder that it was first opened to, instead of the one you ended up browsing to. The "favorites" list isn't so important, since I can edit the ones windows already provides.

I think the "recent" stuff is per application maybe?

Whatever it is, it's not working right. =(
