I just installed litestep and am currently using the default grey theme. (i used omar installer) The problem is, it is unbearably laggy. opening new windows takes over 5 seconds (compared to basically nothing in normal windows theme) and it takes forever to boot up my computer. i haven't done anything with the program yet. i know it's not my computer because within programs everything runs fine.

What is your CPU usage doing? Is it constantly high, spiking intermittently, or just normal, e.g., 0-3%?

i actually did not check...and im not using the theme anymore cause it's too laggy. im thinking it probalby just spikes when i open apps/windows, cuase programs work fine once i get them started

If you've got Windows Updates that you haven't applied yet, that can cause abnormally high CPU use = slow laggy response. Running windows update manually to apply the security patches gets rid of the problem. It's also a good idea, generally speaking - this *is* Windows we're talking about.

Also updating the build used by the installer manually will help you with the login crap. But I am sure you did that because it is posted in like 30 million stickies and the comments on the installer.

ok...i dont have a legitimate copy of windows. it's cracked, so i can't update it all the way

also, i had litestep before (early this year, late 2005), but stopped using it when i reformatted and have just thought about using it today. (playing world of warcraft makes you not really care about anything, but i just quit) back then, it ran fine

There's always a way. ;)

I like to use AutoPatcher.

You can update at M$. You just can't download their fancy schmancy applications that nobody wants.
