Not to be a smartass or anything, but why bother skinning your GUI to be like another GUI instead of just using the other GUI? I've never understood MacOS visual styles, Gnome Litestep themes, or running OS emulators. It just seems pointless.

Posted by member 339989 on 2006-08-28 20:45:36 link

Well malakim, im a big fan of ubuntu, i use it at home...and dual boot with windows for my games...im a big fan of the gui...and let's face it..xps blue luna look is ugly...and so is the vista look, i just like to have the same interface look when i have to boot up into windows...plus, its sexy :)

Posted by member 1885 on 2006-08-28 21:06:19 link

Looks good I guess, but I'm with Malakim. Clones can only impress me to a certain degree. I mean... I can understand that you wan't the same interface across OSs but what kind of feedback are you expecting us to give? "Looks nice, those Gnome guys really did a good job with that"?

No offense or anything, it's nice as far as clones go. I just can't think of much constructive criticism. Especially since it's just a screenshot and not the real deal.

Posted by member 219700 on 2006-08-29 20:31:42 link

I can understand the reason to use it if you are dual booting, that makes sense. But so many people don't dual boot and do this, it sounds silly to me.

Posted by member 248213 on 2006-08-30 07:03:48 link

I dont get what the big deal is. Its like using another OS's GUI, without the negatives the other OS might have (like the need to dual boot!)

Looks great btw ;)

Fatec, Please release now, that's exactly the theme I've been looking for O_O

Posted by member 339989 on 2006-08-30 10:57:47 link

DELETED!

Admin Edit :: Post that picture again and get banned.

Posted by member 273945 on 2006-08-30 11:00:59 link

Much better man, you gotta release that like right away, I want that hardcore haha.

Posted by member 339989 on 2006-08-30 13:32:58 link

So my picture gets deleted for showing an anime background? how is that porn? im confused. but whatever.

*Gone*

Posted by member 212670 on 2006-08-30 13:52:45 link

If that anime featured nudity or an under aged toon in a compromising position, it's inappropriate, imo.

Posted by member 339989 on 2006-08-30 13:55:51 link

wasnt nudity, wasnt under age...nothing.

Posted by member 1 on 2006-08-30 14:19:50 link

If you don't like it take it elseware. That isn't appropriate material for this site.

Posted by member 339989 on 2006-08-30 14:26:53 link

Ok, fine, goodbye.

Posted by member 248213 on 2006-08-30 21:38:07 link

I liked it :D

xcal: Was just some anime chick wearing a short skirt with 2 guns and a cellphone swishing around so your could see her panties.

Didnt really notice any updates to the theme, but...

Posted by member 212670 on 2006-08-30 22:04:57 link

I don't think I'll ever understand the fascination of young cartoon anime girls...

Posted by member 5575 on 2006-08-30 22:15:31 link

Unless, of course, you happen to be a young cartoon anime guy.

Posted by member 1 on 2006-08-30 22:39:55 link

I will never understand the posting of screenshots for the wallpaper alone. The theme was looking solid...why waste it with wallpaper?

Posted by member 339989 on 2006-08-31 05:36:27 link

There was updates *changed to a better font.
*Re-aligned a part of the theme so it dont look out of place (hard to explain)

Change the dock and the icons.

And fixed a few performance issues.

Generally just cleaned the theme up to be better, then i post an updated screenshot for you and it's get deleted...over a wallpaper...which contained no nudity what so ever and wasnt exactly hentai/anime porn now was it -rolls eyes-.

Posted by member 339989 on 2006-08-31 05:40:50 link

Incase any of you wanted to see the update (with a different wallpaper so i dont get banned heh)

Here...

Should i bother releasing it? or will i just get hated for making a nice gnome theme? -shrugs-

Posted by member 1885 on 2006-08-31 05:55:13 link

Hated? Hell no. I only expressed an opinion on clone themes and you shouldn't take that as a personal attack. Looks like a solid theme, release it by all means.

Posted by member 248213 on 2006-08-31 06:28:07 link

Yeah I wanna use this ;)

Posted by member 212670 on 2006-08-31 14:43:18 link

Like I said at a certain other site, "Looks really good."

Posted by member 273945 on 2006-08-31 14:50:17 link

Dude, seriously, release it already.
I want that soooo bad, instead of installing ubuntu and having xwindows etc. like I had to on my Desktop.

Posted by member 339989 on 2006-08-31 19:12:10 link

Just uploaded this to the site, but its the wrong version, so i wouldnt download it.

I will re-up the proper one tomorrow.

Posted by member 248213 on 2006-09-01 08:14:24 link

you could use later modules, but its still great ;)

Posted by member 339989 on 2006-09-01 09:54:20 link

I give up with this site, even the link to download it was removed.

Posted by member 1885 on 2006-09-01 10:01:51 link

Well of course it was. We have a theme section here you know, so why should we let you advise people to download your theme from customize.org?

Posted by member 339989 on 2006-09-01 11:17:23 link

The fact the upload kept failing here...then it only worked once but never showed up, then i realised iu ploaded the wrong version...but no option to edit the upload, but it doesnt show up anyway...

Think?

Posted by member 5575 on 2006-09-01 13:14:49 link

Hmmm, somehow all those other themers got it to work. =P

Posted by member 1 on 2006-09-01 13:57:13 link

Issues with theme uploads normally occur when themes are too big or peoples internet connections are too slow. As to it "never" showing up...well...you did get a message that it was submitted for admin approval. I approved it late last night...must have been around 4AM EST...and then I came in here and found that you wanted it removed. So I removed it.

Posted by member 339989 on 2006-09-01 14:28:34 link

Didnt show me any message though, that's the problem, uploaded it at just over 300kb/s so not sure what went wrong.

i will re-up the newer version in a min and hope to see it on here soon, sorry for the confusion :)

Posted by member 339989 on 2006-09-01 19:59:52 link

Wow, i got so many pms over @ customize how i shouldnt look stupid and make a clone of an os..and should just use the OS, then i had people moaning about stupid little things they can fix themselfs if they ever bothered to actually read the manual...jeez.

Anyway, just about to upload it here, hope you all enjoy.

Posted by member 219700 on 2006-09-01 20:28:48 link

So they all said the same thing we said... interesting.

Posted by member 1 on 2006-09-01 23:45:28 link

amazing how that happens.

Posted by member 212670 on 2006-09-02 02:17:14 link

At some point, you just have to not give a shit what other people think, and make the theme for yourself.

Posted by member 1 on 2006-09-02 02:21:12 link

yup...themes are for the creator...not the user. in the end...there can only be one...

Posted by member 5575 on 2006-09-02 02:59:35 link

Somehow that sounds religious to me. =P

Posted by member 212670 on 2006-09-02 03:44:15 link

With a dash of Highlander.

Posted by member 219700 on 2006-09-02 10:33:17 link

Deja vu, haven't we already had this conversation before?
