I'm using Omar's installer and the Austerity theme until I get a little more experience. I'm not a total newb, but almost.

I hope this is the right place to ask this question...

I changed my config file to reflect that I was using non winamp2.

the buttons on the taskbar correctly control the player, but I get no words in the box just above the buttons.

Is this just not going to work, or is there another settng I need to tweak?

what player are you using?

Chances are the module used does not support Winamp 3 or 5. We need LOSI released just to not have new folks trying to use Austerity! :-)

o...oops. Most modules wouldn't care between 2 and 5. I don't remember what modules were used with that crappy theme so its hard to help. I don't even have the theme anymore to rip apart. I would assume however that it is using Label as it would be the only module to care about version. Check the label docs.

coming from another semi newb i urge you to just pick another theme to lay with. any theme. austerity is just too old and uses outdated modules anyway. off the top of my head check out M3 or StyleBar; I set my friends up with those. and since i just saw your other post go with M3 as it has a seperate, moveable tray that can be hidden (along with the amp controls and taskbar) through a themepopup menu.

I remember when austerity was young and beautiful... now it's a dirty whore. I wouldn't lay it either.

I agree about StyleBar. It's pretty sexy. I'd lay that.

I didn't know that about Austerity. Now I feel all dirty and used. But the silver lining is... if it's not as good as others, I'm going to be very happy when I find some of the better ones!
