Poll - What text editor do you use? Thread last updated on 2006-07-23 21:02:07

When I started I used Crimson Editor, now I'm using Notepad++, but I'd like to know what's popular/useful for LS theme editing?

Edit: I guess I should state why I like it, it has tabbed interface, syntax highlighting, and one of the main reasons is because it includes syntax folding, see http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/commun/screenshots/scrsh_multiView.gif.

Although the User-defined syntax configuration is not as flexible as I'd like.

For theme creation I use ConTEXT. Its tabbed interface is very handy when you're juggling a big number of config files. But I still have all .rc files associated with Metapad, since it loads faster than ConTEXT and is better for quick edits.

SciTE for everything it can handle, superb editor. Fast, tabs, syntax highlighting, fast.
but enabling LS syntax is a bit of a chore.

Used to use metapad before that.

Fractal -

enabling LS syntax is a bit of a chore.

i'm curious - how does one even DO that? Did you write your own syntax or "rc.properties" file?

No I got it off someone ages ago... cant remember who... :/
and its not really a syntax file as such, just strings (stuff with quotes around), comments (; and any after) and numbers are different colors :D

so its not much, but its fine for me. (I dont need every different setting a different color you know)
but I suppose I could add * lines too....

Do you want the litestep.properties file I have?

Can you just upload it to the LiteStep Utilities category under downloads?

PSPad, using the Lua syntax highlighter.
