Popup Go Away Mark II Thread last updated on 2006-06-19 21:32:00

Well this is sort of a plea for assistance with my dissapearing popup problem.

The symptom is that I will hit the popup and before I can even click on a first-tier command the popup goes away. It drives me nuts. The interesting part is that it doesn't happen with all themes.

Default theme is fine.
My favorite theme "Go!" is also fine.

I THINK I've traced the problem to my cellular modem controler program (VZ Access Manager). I THINK it's pulling focus or something every quarter second or so. Some popups give up the focus and thus dissapear, other's maintain it somehow and work fine.

The popup module that I KNOW works is xpopup-1.1.9.dll
EDIT: All versions of xpopup appear to function ok. /EDIT
popup2 (All versions) Doesn't seem to hold the focus.

Is this just going to end up being an issue where I can only use certain popup modules or can anyone think of a way to fix it?

Only thing I would suggest you try is hiding the systray icon for your VZ Access Manager. This may help resolve the issue.

You could also email the VZ ppl and ask them to fix their program so it doesn't steal the focus. Bugs don't get fixed unlessed they get reported.

I tried emailing the VZ people (before you recommended it). They asked for more information since they didn't understnad where this problem was happening nor could they see it. Once I mentioned that I wasn't using the standard windows shell they stopped talking to me.
Bastards!
They are of the opinion that their product works fine if used as intended and being used with anything other than Explorer on WinXP is not intended.

Bah... sounds like they're taking the easy way out.

Easiest way to get them to work on it would be to tell them that in X Game that you loose focus and it doesn't work anymore.
