Well, I installed Vista beta 2 today for the SOLE purpose of seeing how well Litestep works with it. I was mostly curious to see if I could set it to be the default shell, and I am pleased to say that the registry keys are the same, so it _could_ work, however this wasn't quite the case. I created a blog entry on my site with MUCH more detail, so please head over to:

http://georgem.name/blog/52/windows-vista-is-breakin-my-bawls

to read it all. Now before you do, please note that I am NOT requesting that the dev team bust their ass to get it working on Vista which won't even be released until January 2007 (if that), but rather just raising an issue that I don't think anyone has before. Main reason is that I plan to upgrade to Vista when it's finally released, and I CANNOT live without my Litestep.

Also, if anyone enjoys the theme that I've created and am using, post a comment in the blog entry if you want me to release it (so far its configged for 1680x1050 and 1400x1050 resolutions...my desktop and my laptop).

Thanks guys, and let's never forget the greatness of Litestep...it MUST live on forever! (I'll do whatever I can to help it's chances too!)

The new GUI for vista is going to be neat, it may be a while before Litestep catches up. Litestep is neat now because it is better than explorer, but Vista's shell will be much better than XP explorer too.

Someday. Perhaps. I won't be holding *my* breath. =)

I'm getting my copy of Vista soon, can't wait to see if things are improved, but I don't know how long I can live without my Litestep. Any progress guys? No rush, just curious.

If it's Vista x86 we're talking about, I believe xcal has reported that LS works... kinda. Can't remember the details as I'm not terribly interested in Vista. If we're talking x64 I fear you're out of luck as it would require a rewrite of both core and all modules for LS to run on a 64 bit system.

Original Thread

I actually deleted the virtual machine I had Vista on. I don't even have an interest in testing it anymore. :P
