I just want a general sounding from the community on how you feel the balance between theme and available desk space should be run. It's kind of a personal demon of mine(art vs. working space) so I'm looking for opinions.
I prefer lots of working space.
my res as I stated in another thread is 1600x1200 and my screen usage is about 1/2" in a top bar. however, I have never found a use for a vwm so I guess it only goes so far.
I prefer a theme that uses as little space as possible but still gets the job done. For example I use as small fonts as possible that is still readable.
I always wanted an invisble theme... Nothing but the wallpaper !
But it's an utopia. It's convenient to have a taskbar, a systray, and a vwm (Senex.Ferox, when you'll start to use vwm, you'll never could live without. Even on 1600*1200 screen. Trust me)
So, I have to make a deal and I producing minimalistic themes. I started with transparent themes and now, I returned to the concept of bars...
But I like eyecandies too...
Finaly, life isn't so easy under Litestep...
actually I made a theme that did that back in the day. Used it on a machine I VNC'd into. Was nice and low on resources, black and white popup...it was great.
I prefer fancy looking, but small bar themes. I'm using ltd-evolution right now, and it's working perfect for me. Very small taskbar at the top (with vwm, winamp, etc. all built in).
I prefer themes that are loaded with modules, but all compact into one nice little bar.
/me strives on vwm and lotta working space :-[
Thanks. I had wondered how people felt about it.
