Wallpaper Changes Itself Thread last updated on 2006-05-08 10:37:47

The LiteStep theme I'm using has automatically changed my wallpaper (I'm using Slick, I think - err was using it at the time of the incident, I'm using explorer right now LOL) but it's not the wallpaper that comes with the theme, since there is none with the theme. I changed my wallpaper through the Display properties as usual but after I reboot it changes back to the "skin wallpaper"... I may also state that the "skin wallpaper" appears in the background of the one I just applied, if you understand what I am saying (i.e. while shutting down it shows the "skin wallpaper) - I'm really frustrated, and I want to know if there's an alternative to a wallpaper module. Alllllso if you want a screenshot of this evil wallpaper I could probably come up with something for you. Thanks in advance! :D

The LSThemeInstaller.exe in the utilities folder has an option to not apply wallpapers for themes that use an ini file to set them. But, if the theme is applying wallpapers via a module, you'll have to stop the module from loading.

What do you mean by "skin" wallpaper? Are you sure it isn't a virus doing that?

Malakim: Themes can set wallpapers thru the theme.ini or a module

Wow, I can already see a group of LS users making a virus "skin" that changes wallpapers into eeeevil pics - heh, that'd be something. Thanks, xcal, I'll see what I can find. This "skin" wallpaper was a wallpaper that came with an LS theme/skin or something, because I have installed no such wallpaper myself, so it could only have been from an LS theme/skin. Been watching too many "evil hacker" or Matrix movies, eh? I removed the wallpaper changing module, and reinstalled LS (because of another issue, totally unrelated). :D

A quick fix is to put the image file you want to use as wallpaper in the themes directory of the litestep directory on your system. Call it wallpaper.bmp.
