thanks to the wiki i have now installed LS .. i havent rebooted yet *gulp*

before i do i saw this on the wiki

QUOTE: " so... there seems to be a sp2 bug. After installing ls, do not reboot, just run SetShell in the utilities folder and set ls as shell again. Then, reboot and that should fix it."

i am running sp2 but im sorry if i seem thick what does that mean exactly?

It means nothing if you manually installed LS. Otherwise its talking about the setshell utility that comes with Omar's Installer.

As soon as you run setshell (in the utilities folder) and set LS as shell again. *Then* reboot.

That's a build update (to the final 0.24.7). You want to get the installer first.

could you post a link to it for me please ... i cant find it in the download section for some reason :(

"LiteStep Installer (omar)" is what you're looking for. It's in the same place you got the build update. After installing that (and rebooting), quit litestep, extract the update build in to the install folder, overwriting files. Or you can also use the updatebuild utility. Restart Litestep.

ok, I'm a tad confused here. In the downloads section, the description, for the file "LiteStep0[1].24.7_31-114.zip", reads as follows:

"This is a LiteStep BUILD. It comes with all of the components that make up the LiteStep application. When you download this you will need a theme and modules to go with it before it will work for you. ..."

nowhere in that description does it mention anything about requiring a previous build.
However, quoting xcal:

"That's a build update (to the final 0.24.7). You want to get the installer first.".

The litestep wiki also doesn't identify omar's installer as a requirement for installing litestep; in fact, it describes, besides the manual way, a rather elegant method of configuring windows to use litestep by using the windows group policy editor.

Heres a link to the Litestep Wiki -> Litestep installation page http://wiki.litestep.com/LiteStep:Installation;
here's a link to the wiki's main page: http://wiki.litestep.com/Index

its a good place to start.

At the top of the first page you linked to, it says:
There are a few options when it comes to the installation of LiteStep. Two of these options are the LiteStep Installer or manual installation. The LiteStep Installer is self-explanatory, so this page will be dedicated to installing LiteStep manually using the registry.

Thus there is no further mention of the installer, as the installer would have made all those registry changes for you.

I checked out the installer and I must say.... that installer's preety spiff; Thumbs up to the dev.
