Access denied. Thread last updated on 2006-04-28 10:20:35

OK, so I have two unrelated questions. My first is about my not being able to edit any files in LiteStep. I can edit them fine on my home computer, but when I installed LiteStep on my work computer, I try to edit, for instance, my personal.rc I get a window that pops up saying access denied. I'm the system admin so I wouldn't think I would have any problems like that. Any ideas?

My other question: Is there a way to edit .dll 's? For instance deskfolders.dll?

Thanks!

Conrad

I've seen that in the past, too. but I don't recall the "solution", as such. Seems to me I associated .rc files with my text editor, and then it worked OK. A search of the forums might turn up some other fixes.

As for the dll thing, do a search for reshacker. It should let you get at some of the guts for the dlls, though I assume most of the information stored in them is already compiled.

Thank you, Boreas! That worked! All I did was open properties and change the application it opens with from "Unknown" to "Notepad". Thanks so much! Thank you, jqubit, too!
