Internet Explorer window not maximizing Thread last updated on 2003-10-26 19:04:12

Everything was fine until I switched themes. When I try to maximize my window sizes, all of them work except for Internet Explorer. Somehow, IE seems to retain the desktop size from the previous theme. In the previous theme, the bar was on the top, and in the theme I switched to, its on the bottom. Now, when I maximize my IE window, i get a window that leaves useless gap on the top of the screen while covering up the taskbar on the bottom. THis is only in IE. None of the other programs does this. ANy way to fix this?

you may need to logoff or something in order for IE to notice the change. You gotta remember IE is a M$ product and it dosn't always take kindly to changes in the shell.

I've tried recycling litestep, logging off, and restarting the computer. No solution yet.

maybe try switching it to fullscreen (f11) and then back again? you never know with M$

I found what the problem was, and its nothing related to litestep. It was caused by StyleXP. It was fixed by switching to another visual style.

I'm experiencing a similar problem with all kinds of maximized windows... there's always a 4 or 5 pixel border on all sides where the desktop shows through... Changed stylexp theme once, didn't help...

any ideas?

try disabling StyleXP (temporarily)

hyperhunter look in step.rc for settings like this :
SetDesktopArea
SDALeft [integer]
SDARight [integer]
SDATop [integer]
SDABottom [integer]

And change all of those [integer]'s to 0 ... or whatever ... this makes border in your case I think ...

Chuvi thanks a lot, that did it ;)

SDATop (or Bottom) is supposed to be 63, if you don't want full-screen maximized windows

I have the same problem. I installed litestep for the first time, and when I was going through the read me and getting familiar with what does what, I clicked on the left side of the "Start Button" and it made the start bar go to the top of the screen and resized my window at the same time. I was like.."Cool", so i clicked on it again and it put the start bar back on the bottom. but my internet explorer window didn't resize. Now when i maximze the window, I have that blank space above the window and can't fix it...I've tried all the suggested solutions even uninstalled litestep...still no fix....what possibly could it be?

sounds like omar forgot to reset a variable when the bar moved. only thing you can do is either move it to the top again or edit the config file where the theme variables are stored so that it knows the bar is at the bottom now.
