Display issues/corrupt display with ATI X800 Pro Thread last updated on 2006-04-25 14:08:42

I'm new to litestep. Basically, during Windows start up (after it does the final screen refresh before displaying the desktop) there are 5 'stripes' of corrupt display (looks like the lines aren't meeting correctly) separated by 5 'stripes' of normal display (so approx. 120 pixels each). This happens without fail when using litestep as my shell. However, the part that really has me stumped is that this has happened before with Explorer on numerous occassions but only after hitting the reset button on my computer (when sytem hangs forced it) and would usually be fixed after a restart but would Always be fixed after a hard reboot. I'm by no means inexperienced with computers, but these two situations are the only time I've ever seen anything like this. I know that my descriptive language may leave a bit to be desired, but I don't know of any other way to describe it. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Since it's happened in explorer, have you tried an ATI support forum?

Yep, sounds unrelated to the Litestep, or any shell for that matter.

Try reinstalling or up/downgrading the ATI drivers. Or, for a more reliable solution, get an nVidia card ;)

Nvidia drivers are actually less reliable than ATI drivers.

Not in my experience. I've never had any problems with nVidia, whereas ATI on the other hand... well, let's just say that ATI would have to pay me to use one of their products again.

I agree with West. Both companies have had issues, but I've had less problems with nvidia.
