hi all, i'm a newbie, and i can't get ls to work at all...
i'm using win2k (chinese traditional version... maybe that is the problem?), i already have geoshell and shellOn installed properly... and trying out litestep but can't get it to work... i've altered the registry as specified in the faq and docs page, and i've also tried the installer and updated it to the latest indie build... and i have tried doing it without the installer... and i've also tried to install it on another computer without geoshell and shellon, and it still wouldn't work... any ideas?
thanks

what isn't working?

are you installing it on c:\Litestep? LS themes don't work correctly if LS is installed in directories with spaces.

LS has no problems being installed in directories with spaces. Themes that are not properly configured may have issues, but it does work otherwise.

i've installed it in c:\litestep and i'm using the default simplicity theme (at least trying to use it)... i've just tried it on my 98se (by installing into a different directory) and it works... but i generally work in 2k, so i'm still struggling... i've tried disabling the anti-virus program but that doens't help either... i've copied the mscvp60.dll (or whatever it's called) into the litestep directory and it still doesn't work... doesn't work as in moments after login, windows says an error occurred and kills the process... (so i end up without a shell and need to log out and use explorer or geoshell)

Go here and try what I mentioned in the 11th reply. (There is another link in that messege to a thread I had started requesting help for the same problem.)

sounds like you got a bad module or something with your theme. try a different theme.

i've also tried to run it on top of the explorer and geoshell, but both attempts failed (error occur and process killed...)

Hey Genux, for starters are you logged in the admin account? (I believe 2k still follows the NT rules)? Secondly which LiteStep are you using? The newer OTS installer or a older litestep? (I ask because mentioning the Synchrosity theme dosnt mean its the newer OTS installer :P). Keep in mind Im flying blind here but Ill help if I can... and no, I dont use 2k but I remember my NT system..

i think its the new ots installer, the one that comes with the installer "2.1"... i have admin privilleges so that's not a problem... and um... the litestep i'm using is the latest one (i got the files from sourceforge and just overwrite everything that came with the installer...) i'm trying to find another theme that has less modules to isolate and find the reason why my litestep can't work on 2k (btw, the theme works fine on the 98se i have... so i don't think its the problem with the theme... but then again, 98 and 2k are very different...)
