Manipulating Desktop Icons Thread last updated on 2006-03-29 20:17:27

Not looking for an explorer desktop emulator or anything, but I'm trying to figure out where the code is that controls arrangement of desktop icons. I'm using litestep with the nonstep theme. This theme has options for:

show/hide desktop icons
show/hide system icons (my comp, docs, network, bin)
show/hide labels
icon size

Normally the icons are aligned at the bottom left corner. They are always in alphabetical order with system icons first, then any folders, then whatever else is left.

So is there a way I can set [x,y] for icon placement (if, say, I wanted it centered) or can I set it to only display the recycle bin instead of all 4 system icons? Are these options somewhere in my theme config or in litestep config? I dunno...just looking to experiment with this.

Still can't figure out what file, if any, I can edit to modify this.
