Eve online theme? Thread last updated on 2006-05-17 21:29:16

Hey I was wondering if there are any litestep themes in a style similar to the Eve online interface. That would be awesome.
Perhaps somebody can suggest a theme that I can use as a base to modify myself?

Interesting screen shots and wall paper, tho...

Good looking game. But still no interface in sight... or is the OP talking about that spaceship HUD in one of the screenies? I've never played this and I must confess I know nothing about Eve Online.

Edit: BTW, did the guy in the first screenshot get his outfit and hairdo from some Dune surplus props store? :D

as stated...over and over again. Themes about things are just wallpapers with somewhat matching theme graphics. With something like that...match it against some other black theme and you are done.

a little off topic.. but how is the game Eve-Online? I've heard that it's a little boring..

Have anyone played it?

Posted by member 314788 on 2006-03-22 15:46:17 link

I've played it and ironically Eve Online is how I came to find out about LiteStep.

It's a time intensive long-term goal oriented game. If you're the type that picks up Starcraft, plays an hour and is statisfied, Eve Online is not for you.

If you are more of a hardcore player where training a skill for a week or even more to get the latest and baddest weaponry is what floats your boat, head on over to eve-online.com

Lots of fun. PVP, industrialist, storyline... it's all yours.

As for the OP, I do believe he was referencing to the Eve-style interface in terms of the ship's "HUD" which isn't truly a HUD. It is more of a point-click-shoot system similar to Diablo, Warcraft etc.

i also played eve for a while, good game. but wasnt the sort of thing i was after in the end (i like KEEPING my ships!)

i see.. thanks for your opinions deoxy and vertigoalopolus, I don't think I can commit to one game right now.

Sorry DeViLbOi, it was off topic.. the question should be in general fourm.. but I didn't think I should have started another thread about just eve on-line

In fact.... Yes. I would love a theme based on EVE's interface aswell. Its pretty minimalist and looks really, really good. Best game-interface ever :)

Posted by member 219700 on 2006-04-18 18:13:17 link

The game interface was actually more minimal in the beginning, although you can hide a lot of stuff now. I have to say I've never been a fan of the side-bar instead of the bottom bar, but I actually don't mind it when I play EVE.

Posted by member 74171 on 2006-05-04 18:22:58 link

.........So what about it?

anyone knows if there are an EVE-litestep, EVE-VS, EVE-wb or EVE-anything at all?

Don't think there's a better explanation than that.

jqubit, I don't think you understand the request. EVE has a unique GUI, and they want a theme based on that, not the game itself.

Posted by member 280260 on 2006-05-05 14:26:02 link

There is nothing particularly special about a sidebar with a bunch of buttons on it. It's been made quite clear that if you want an EVE online theme, you'll have to put one together yourself. Just find a nice sidebar theme, open up the LSImageFolder and change the graphics to look like the EVE interface.

Sorry if I sound a little abrasive here - I just don't think it was necessary to open up this post again.

Wow, an Eve Online theme would be awesome. I was gonna work on a Jade Empire WB skin, hehe. A webkit, if Eve Online has one, would be a great resource for anyone willing to do this (I couldn't find a webkit for it anywhere) - I don't code but I can do interface graphics.... Hehe, playing Eve Online and getting LS.... But ripping the graphics from the screenshots should be fairly simple, I think. :D

jqubit, in the case why don't we just stop making themes altogether. Since there is nothing particularly special about a bar theme at all.

Posted by member 280260 on 2006-05-05 18:47:05 link

I'm just saying that there's no call for an entirely new theme in this case. If all he wants is a theme that looks like the EVE Online theme, all he needs is new graphics. There is no such thing as a true "EVE Online Shell" because the two interfaces serve completely different purposes. I don't use litestep to fly my spaceship, and I don't use EVE to manage all my programs. Because EVE online is not a shell, it is useless as more than the vague template for an interface. There are plenty of good bar themes and people will continue to design them, but EVE online is not one of them.

I'm sorry if I sound mean, but the only thing that will make a theme more "EVE"-y is a change of graphics. I believe that has been made perfectly clear. It's about time this thread was locked.

Posted by member 219700 on 2006-05-05 19:38:51 link

jqubit, you've never played the game have you? I don't know of any current side-bar theme that can mimic EVE at all. Just because it's a side-bar GUI doesn't make it just like all side-bar themes. As I said before, why not just quit making any theme. Afterall, you just need to change the colors and it's a whole nother theme right? Clearly you don't know anything about the EVE GUI so please, don't try to get this thread locked just because you are called on your ignorance.

Posted by member 280260 on 2006-05-05 22:17:01 link

Didn't mean to get you so riled up - relax =P.

I will be the first to admit I don't know a lot about EVE Online. But this thread got me curious, so I went and did a little research on the EVE interface, and I just don't think it's one that lends itself to conversion to a functional shell.

Posted by member 219700 on 2006-05-06 10:00:21 link

And yet some people are requesting it. So just because you don't like it doesn't mean you gotta rain on their parade, ok?

Posted by member 280260 on 2006-05-06 12:16:32 link

Okay, okay - I'm sorry!

btw, when should we expect to see that EVE Online theme released? =P

Posted by member 74171 on 2006-05-08 06:20:43 link

Dude... you guys doesnt understand.
The request. (not that I started topic, but MY request at least is) is a theme based on eves interface. The graphics mainly. Maybe with the options to choose from red, blue or black.
the gui in eve has a wonderful clean graphic style.

And since litestep uses right click menues it would also remind the user of the eve gui. Sidebars sucks. And eve is the only gui ever that works with it. I wouldnt use that for a litestep though.

Posted by member 302005 on 2006-05-08 10:41:54 link

Yeah, all this topic was about (originally, I think...) was that someone wanted a LiteStep theme based on Eve Online's graphic style/GUI/interface. So I think that it would be good to discuss what the topic was originally intended to. Or we could ask the mods for a SPAM section of this forum for you. :D

Find a way to extract the graphics hud, then start making it yourself hehe.

Posted by member 280260 on 2006-05-14 01:32:00 link

You can't say "graphic style/GUI/interface". The terms aren't interchangeable. The EVE GUI is totally useless as a litestep theme. If you want the graphics you'll have to rip them yourself.

Posted by member 223400 on 2006-05-14 01:41:14 link

Well, I might disagree with that. With some creativity any HUD from a game could become a GUI. You can extract the graphics and use them as a base, but you obviously will have to make some changes.

Posted by member 206411 on 2006-05-14 10:02:35 link

lol wow, this thread is still going? Why don't somone just make one.. If somone takes the screen shot of all the GUI, im sure anyone can create it...

Posted by member 223400 on 2006-05-14 13:55:36 link

If I knew anything about the scripting of LS I would. I only know some of the minor stuff to slightly customize things. I still sometimes hit walls with some themes. GO! 1.2 is my latest. Simple, sleek, Im lovin it.

Posted by member 219700 on 2006-05-14 23:20:10 link

jqubit, the EVE GUI is not useless for LS. It would be fairly easy to adapt the GUI to a shell GUI.

Posted by member 280260 on 2006-05-15 00:21:35 link

GAAAAAAA! Let's agree to disagree, yeah?

Posted by member 219700 on 2006-05-15 07:09:36 link

No, you are wrong and always will be wrong, you are simply unwilling to accept it.

Posted by member 223400 on 2006-05-15 07:18:48 link

i disagree with agreeing to disagree. Its just not feasible. =P

You know. When I think about it. The GO 1.2 theme isnt to far off from the eve GUI. It would just need a few modificiations hehe. Eve is side bar, so is GO. It would just need his links moved to the side bar rather then the bottom. ; )

A minimal theme with samurize would probably work best.
