CPU/RAM Footprint Thread last updated on 2006-03-17 05:16:49

Hi guys,
I just was curious to know what the RAM/CPU footprint size was like for LiteStep. I am currently running LS on my old laptop and its fine. However, I am interested in using it on my studio PC (I write music), where even the smallest differences in RAM/CPU usage can make everything run smoother.

In peoples opinion, would you say that LS generally places LESS or MORE strain on the host computers CPU & RAM than the original windows explorer shell?

All the best,

I do the same here using a pro tools system.
Latency is everything on a daw.
To be honest dont use any theme that makes calls on a timer
or uses parsing to access info while recording.

I actually made a minimal pro tools theme for when I record.

Thanks Immortal!! I am still a LS beginner, which kind of objects/themes use timers or parsing ? I guess scrapping the media player controls is a must for a start. Would just a taskbar and a r.click popup be ok ? Do you think that a very minimal theme like that is a better alternative to just using explorer on a DAW?

No, a nice minimal theme like task/popup is much better than explorer...

Thanks Immortal. Am now running my DAW with a customized version of EcyStep and I am seriously impressed. Not a single problem all day..and usually with explorer, I can be guaranteed at least 1 minor/major screw up or hang. Wish I had found Litestep a loooooong time ago!!

In fact, you don't even need taskbar (because the !popup has a tasks menu) ... at least my version does

Yeah ...
