When using vTray, most of the icons on the tray will look normal, but a few of them will have a black cutout of the shape of the icon which can be hard to see on black backgrounds. I wanna use vTray because its the only module I know that lets you execute events on icon additions.

Looks like PPAT or color manipulation (like hue/saturation) messing up to me.

Try xTray. Unlike VTray, it is still active, and getting bug fixes here and there.

or downgrade to vtray-1.04

Hmmm, sure *looks* like xtray will do what you want. I never saw this icon problem with vtray-1.10 though. I think it may depend on how you do the background. I used a solid color background and hooked it into an xlabel to provide transparency effects. Image backgrounds may have "alpha" problems, like those you've seen.
