Mouse and keyboard freeze Thread last updated on 2006-03-14 10:04:51

I used an liteStep installer and when i log in my mouse and keyboard work for like 2 seconds then freeze... but the pc is still running fine, just the mouse an keyboard ar messed up. and if i get it put back to explorer everything works fine, but i out it back to lite step and it messes up again

The thing is is that it was working last night when i installed it then i git home form work today and it wasnt working anymore

Did you update to the final build? Did you change to a different theme? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

I did change to a different theme and when it was in the middle of downloading some stuff it needed my internet connection went out and it was after that that the mouse and keyboard thing started. and was was able to get to explorer because i was getting some errors about some values beeing null an my stuff wouldnt freeze till i said ok to the errors so i could go to the proccess manager and open an explorer window and get to my destop folder to use the set explorer as shell shortcut then i restart and im in explorer and everything is fine si i reinstalled and all null value errors went away but my mouse and keyboard still freeze and now i dont have time to do anything before it freezes. its just a good thing i still have the admin account on explorer so i can get to the internet.

so in short i did try reinstalling it and i was able to get to explorer because of the error messages

What brand of keyboard/ mouse and what interfaces do they use?

Have you scanned for virii/ malware?

Have you upgraded to 0.24.7 Final?

its dell usb mouse and keyboard and yes i have 0.24.7 Final and no virii/malware. They were working fine until i went to change the theme and my internet connection dropped in the middle of downloadeing modules and i just turned off the pc cuz i was tired

What model Dell PC is it? There have been widespread problems with a bunch of Dell PCs related to keyboard and mouse lockups. Has been primarily related to voltage issues with the USB port itself and not the usb devices.

i just turned off the pc cuz i was tired - I hope you don't mean that you killed the power without shutting down. :P

If that is what you did, well good luck.

Otherwise, from your last message, it seems implied that Litestep was working fine until you changed themes. So, revert back to the previous theme, or debug why the current theme is giving you trouble.

ok i just cant get it to work so i tried to uninstall it using the uninstaller that can w/ litestep_installer-3.0.2, but i had to do it from my admin account cuz my other one has no mouse or keyboard but it told me i didnt have permission to uninstall it so i think i have to do it manually... where can i find a tut to tell me how to do that?
