"My Computer"/DVD-ROM Drive Problems under LiteStep Thread last updated on 2006-03-04 23:33:36

Oookay. So I'm using LiteStep for quite a time now, and I'm really happy with. Until now. An annoying problem occured out of nowhere. I have Litestep and Object Dock running (by the way: is there a dock module for litestep? I couldn't find one, it would save a little RAM as a module wouldn't it?) and everytime I click on "My Computer", the DVD-Rom drive loads (of course only when a CD/DVD is inside) and it takes up to 5 minutes for the My computer-window to open. I haven't had this problem before with Litestep or the Windows Explorer Shell. My DVD-Burner behaves the same way. So, the only way to prevent this is by opening the drive before clicking on My Computer. That's pretty damn screwed, because I usually leave my CDs/DVDs inside the drive.
What the hell is wrong there? Is it the Dock? I assume it isn't LiteStep's fault, because it worked perfectly before.
Could anyone please help me? Thanks a lot!

Sounds like you have autorun turned on, and whatever you're clicking on for "My Computer" is going out and querying the drive - and starting up whatever is in your drive in the process. Dry disabling autorun for that drive. TweakUI is the simplest way to do this, IMO, but you can right click on the drive and try modifying the drive properties from there, too.
