Performance Problems Running HL2 Windowed (While using Litestep) Thread last updated on 2006-02-21 20:51:58

This certaintly seems very odd, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced problems like this. I'm a mod developer and I often need to run HL2 in windowed mode, this has always been fine but since switching back to litestep (using nonstep) today I've been experiencing extreme slowdown and graphic "lag" when running the game. The problem doesn't come up when running in fullscreen or maximized windowed mode.

If anyone has experienced problems like this I'd be really interested to hear if there's a solution.

If I remember right non|step uses a lot of Alpha Transparency stuff. Since this stuff is "on top" of Half Life and its Alpha stuff it may be a bit graphic intensive for the machine. Try using a different them...something more basic.

Create a hotkey for !togglemodules.

Get a third party hotkey app and set one key up to start LS. Then just kill the shell when you want to play a game, and restart it with the hotkey when you're done. LS doesn't cause *any* conflicts or use *any* resources when it isn't running. =)
