Can anyone help me out here... I can't for the LIFE of me get the syntax right for Shortcut3.
Can someone right me out an example line they've used? Cause I'm just an idiot.

uhmm...go into the docs folder and read the docs for SC3...it has to be in there.

Well, you're right, no one used shortcut3 because its configuration was not friendly. That, plus, it faded away from whatever spotlight it had. Oh, and open up the dll in a hex editor to see a typo in one of the settings, I forget which.

I don't know if people use lsdynamic anymore, either.

It's all about xLabel these days.

xLabel huh... I'll give it a go.

Ok, another question, does xLabel support alphatransparency with PNG's? Cause it doesn't seem to work on mine. I can't find anything in the documentation that comes with it that says anything.

From the xLabel 3.4.9 docs:

AlphaMap
If this command is present then the label uses a given AlphaChannel in the PNG images for painting Per-Pixel Alphatransparency.

Ok, now if I want that to work by using xLabel to replace Shortcut2, how do I throw that in there?

Posted by member 700 on 2006-02-07 16:50:10 link

Is xlabel my best option of I want AlphaTransparent shortcuts? Or is there a better module to use for things like that?

Posted by member 212670 on 2006-02-07 20:20:00 link

Use xlabel.

Posted by member 700 on 2006-02-07 20:35:50 link

Still, how do I make AlphaTransparent shortcuts with png's using xlabel as my shortcut module.

Posted by member 212670 on 2006-02-07 21:37:45 link

What have you tried so far that isn't working?

Posted by member 212670 on 2006-02-07 22:34:15 link

Ryuho you boob... We were trying to avoid spoon feeding the guy, since xLabel is pretty straight forward and really well documented.

(Btw, we were talking about using alphamap with a png.)

Thank you Ryuho for your help.
Thanks for trying to help xcal, I understand where you are coming from, but I'm with Ryuho, it helps to look at what someone else has done... an example I mean.

Now, in the documentation it says it works Exactly like Shortcut2, just take out the module load for it and set the variable for "xLabelUseShortcut2" and your set. Well, that is what I did and it didn't support png files. It should have a flag that can be inputted to render png's, but it doesn't.

I wasn't realizing that I would have to make a label for every shortcut I wanted just to get alphatransparency. Ack... What a drag. Maybe I'll just stick to Layercut, it works like a champ.

I'm just simply trying to update a theme I have to All of the Newest modules... But it seems that the "Shortcut" module still lacks as it has for quite some time. Honeslty, all I ask is a shortcut module that supports AlphaTransparency that's up to date.

No spooning!

...it helps to look at what someone else has done... an example I mean.

Ahh good point. Hopefully some themes will start using xlabel so people can see how it's done.

(I want to spoon with DeViLbOi.)

Yeah, I think I'll take it up and use xLabel. Layercut is great and all, but I need something newer. xLabel is the only good option for this type of thing. I best start typing... Haha. It should look sweet in the end though with what xLabe is able to do.

Label groups are your friend. They eliminate a lot of redundancy when doing similar things.

See "Default Configuration"

lol wow you guys really dont like examples do you..

Posted by member 1 on 2006-02-08 05:22:56 link

its not a problem with examples...its the problem with hand holding. By just giving straight up examples for the simple stuff...you are just promoting more hand holding. The fact that someone can't read a simple doc means they probably shouldn't be using LS.

Isn't that why the forum is here, for help and examples?

Anyway... xLabel works great, it just takes a whole lot more written configuration to get what you want. I'm ok with that as long as it does what I need it to do.

One of the better ways to get help is to copy/paste what isn't working for you. We like to see the effort, first, when it comes to simplier stuff. It also makes the question easier to answer.

Posted by member 700 on 2006-02-08 14:36:51 link

Hahaha... That would have been the smart thing for me to do, the problem was I didnt have anything to paste since the docs said that it used the Exact same syntax as Shortcut2 and I know I had written it perfectly... problem was that it acted Exacly like it said, like Shortcut2 which doesn't have alpha support.

Well, I've looked over things a few times now and I think I was using an old version of xLabel.. like 2.8.5 or something like that. In it's documentation it has a replacement for Shortcut2. It looks to be removed in the newest version.

xLabel works perfectly for shortcuts with alpha though. I've started moving things over to it and kicking all the shortcut junk. Label just does exacly what I want it to. Woot.

Don't forget the 'x' brutha.

Posted by member 700 on 2006-02-09 10:17:30 link

Haha.. Sorry, ...xLabel just does Exacly what I want it to...
