LS loading slower than Explorer!? Thread last updated on 2003-03-26 01:55:44

Does anyone else have the same problem that LS (24.6) loads MUCH slower than explorer with WinXP pro?
When I boot with litestep, the light blue "loading.." screen stays for abt 30-60 secs when it is loading apps like miranda (I can hear mirandas welcome sounds), before showing my desktop.
When booting with explorer.exe, first comes desktop, then it loads miranda and such..

When I was running LS with win98 it was much faster to load than explorer..

Im also running BootXP (startscreen changer) but the loading times are about the same with or without it.
Any ideas for a cure?

It's probably a problem with the logon screen. Try to use the classic
logon screen instead. Read more about it here: <a href="http://www.litestep.net/index.php?section=4&action=view&catId=1&id=462"> LINK</a>

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing.

It just takes extra time to load (if you follow the link above, you find out that windows waits until all systray icons are loaded to show LS). If you want to get rid of it, I've heared that switching to the classic logon method works.

From my testing on WinXP it is a problem with the logon screen. It sped up dramatically when I changed over to the classic logon screen.

Yup known issue, use the classic logon.

It's a known issue, but it'd really be a surprise if it was indeed related to tray icons... :p
Anyway, all shells except for explorer seem to suffer from this, so far the only workaround that was found is switching to the classic logon screen.
