Rainmeter Label Problem Thread last updated on 2006-01-26 01:30:47

I have collection of Labels docked together and I tried to hook Rainmeter into the last Label (it being on top). Now I did this and rainmeter (which previously showed up fine) does not when hooked into this label. So I undocked this label and now Rainmeter fights with it and it looks (exactly) like it's flashing (as in it shows up in one second intervals and disapears right after, so in a word, strobing). This is an undesired effect. I tried to fix this by looking at the order of modules, tryed putting Rainmeter into different labels with no effect. Whats the reason for this and how can I fix this?

I haven't been able to hook the last few versions of rainmeter. I ended up putting a label "Behind" it instead, like so:
meterLabelwidth $meterwidth$
meterLabelheight $barHeight$
meterLabelBehindWindow "RainmeterWindow"
meterLabelOnLeftClick !rainmeterzpos 2
meterLabelOnRightClick !rainmeterzpos 2

Toss in a bit of scripting to make the meter toggle properly with the label and you're set. If someone *has* figured out how to hook rainmeter-0.14 and make it work, please post it here!

Maybe not use rainmeter at all and save yourself a lot of frustration? :P

Rainmeter is the only way to get a histogram of CPU and net use - at least right now. And since I've got it working just fine ATM, I'm going to keep it. I spent *way* too much time tweaking it to make it behave to throw it all away now. =P

Yeah, I know. I've just had so many problems with trying to make Rainmeter work with my themes in the past that I just don't bother with it anymore. It sort of just pretends to be a LiteStep module and doesn't do a very good job of it. I think Rainy should drop the LS support entirely if he can't make Rainmeter behave like -- and get along with -- other modules.

Well... he does put the source out there. If I knew the windows API better I'd take the source and merge xmodule-like formatting with the existing "metering" capabilities. That'd be a cool project.

Was just throwing that out there... I'd never ask for something like that. He really works hard as it is.
