Litestep conflicting... Thread last updated on 2006-01-23 05:28:38

I searched for an answer to this, but couldn\'t find something that fit it really... Or just what they suggested didn\'t work...

Okay... I had been hearing about using Windowblinds with Litestep from several themes (I originally didn\'t know you could do this), so I started using Windowblinds with Litestep, and everything was working fine, until I needed to restart my computer a few hours later. When I logged in, windowblinds had completely overridden Litestep. I quit out of Windowblinds, went into the display panel, reverted the windows and buttons in display properties->Appearance to Windows XP Style (then later to Windows Classic Style), and restarted my computer. However, whenever I attempt to load Litestep, a message appears saying \'You are currently running another shell... If you continue, some advanced features of Litestep will be disabled... etc….' The only problem is that I\'m not running another shell (unless there\'s some conflict between Litestep and Logonstudio or Bootskin, which wouldn\'t make sense at all, since I had both of those running when I first installed Litestep, and there never was an issue.) If I say continue, it\'ll partially initiate Litestep -- but it\'s fairly unstable, and doesn\'t startup when I restart my computer. So, I suppose my question is... Why is this happening when my computer is exactly the way it was when Litestep was installed? Should I just reinstall Litestep?

Thank you--

I bet it's because you are playing with all the stardock apps and it overwrote your reg keys.

Just use setshell utility in the litestep/utilities folder
Set litestep back as your shell.

I know windowblinds and logonstudio play fair with LS
however I am thinking Bootskin modified your master boot record and changed the shell.

Uhmmm...why would an MBR have to do with LS? I run BootSkin and LogonStudio with LS just fine. There is another Stardock app that will give you that error though. Its like tray something or other.

Ohhh, I see. Now it works again, thanks--
So, I assume I should take this as Windowblinds and Litestep aren't really compatible?
But explorer looks so hideous ... Ighhh... Oh well..

WindowBlinds and LS are completely compatible. There is just a small app that Stardock uses with DesktopX that conflicts with LS.
