It has been used in the past to simulate the AutoHide function of the explorer taskbar.

You can use it to execute a command when the mouse cursor enters or leaves a certain area of the screen. Particularly (sp?) useful for autohide/-show, but you can use it for a lot of other things as well :)

usually ya have the whole side of the screen active for changing the desktop and that's a little too much, i think. with hotspots (ckHotspots.dll for example) you can define any area on the screen like a corner or sth else ;)

yeah, it's the small area in either corner that's best, imho...

eman: why don't you just use gestures.dll for mouse gestures ;)

Never used hotspots myself, but as said it can be quite useful for changing vwms, or it can be used to show/hide bar (like explorer...)
