Is there any way I could make a drop-down menu from the taskbar which shows a list of folders like how the popup does when you right-click?
You can do this on the windows shell by right-clicking the taskbar, going on "Toolbars" and then adding your own folder.

A good place to look for a download might be in the "Downloads" section (far fetched I know, but give it a try non-the-less)
