ReactOS anyone heard of it? Thread last updated on 2005-12-28 19:54:21

I'm not quite sure where to post this exactly but this section seemed most appropriate at the time.

I came across a new OS by the name of ReactOS which is Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) that is meant to be windows compatible. The goal of the OS is to make freely available software available to everyone (not just windows users).

Has anyone else seen or read anything about this OS? Or even better has anyone tried to run litestep on it? Judging from the screenshots it could use some graphical eye candy loving :p Anyways if anyone is curious you can find out more on it at its website

Whoa, that's really cool. The install image is only 13 megs (16.2 out of the zip). o.O Going to try this out.

I would have put this in general West, but I feel that since it's in a alpha state that someone from the dev crews might take interest in it (and possibly get the LS foot in the door on the project).

Xcal, how are you going to run it? I might run it from my linux box just to toy with it, but at the moment my linux box is over 3000 miles away. I might get a virtual PC trial or a vmware demo just to give it a spin though.

I was going to check it out on vwware later tonight. (busy atm)

Ok, got it up and running. I used the vwware files off of the site. It's pretty neat, and shows promise, but there's not a whole lot there yet.
