i'm definately having problems then. i get that 'invalid image format' popup when trying to upload a gif. And i don't get a whole lot from a .bmp either. could this be because i used an 0 in my nick instead of an O? i've run into problems like this elsewhere bacause files would get named wrong.

Some users are trying to upload images with special characters in them and it is causing problems. If you have a ', ", or \ in your theme name it will not be approved because your image will not load. Those are the only characters I know right now, but there may be more. We will have that fixed in the morning. Im too tired to look into it now.

what about the resizing to your current browser size? Or is that just IE?, It makes the images look horrible since IE or anything doesn't stretch them well. if you got to look at the whole image you should be able to see it completely.

IE6 added that feature in. You can disable it in the Tools->Options->Advanced menu under "Enable Automatic Image Resizing"

(and yes, auto image resizing is the most annoying thing i've run into recently)

Sorry about that, I was at a lab machine. Not ever using IE 6, made me unaware. It works fine here.

Hmm.. why are all gfx converted to png? If going from jpg you're going to get a larger png file (in most of the cases). It seems like a waste of bw/space.
Perhaps a script could be made to do the png convert, then check its size against the original upload and keep the smaller?
