Goodday,

Let me start with the fact that my native language is Dutch, so when you think: WTF!!!111 what a mistake, what a lousy english: forgive me ;).

Second: I started this thread because i believe that this is "a litestep" first. Ofcourse, probably should all the information i'm asking be available in some kind of documentation wondering over the internet. But want to discuss some of the things i've already created in my mind.

I'm at this moment busy for two weeks sorting out what i exactly need for my project: The motor-pc (long-term project, do not expect results within a short time :)).

We all know people who build complete pc's in their cars and do all kinda multimedia/navigation-stuff on it. That's something i like myself but there's one problem: I do not own a car (or own a car where you build a 700 euro computer in ;)). What do I own: a 1998 Yamaha Thundercat motor.

I'm going to replace my complete dashboard (this is a spare-one i'm going to buy)
See second post!

With an 7 inch screen. The screen is going to be connected to an Via Epia motherboard with Windows XP. The problem is that most of all the people in their car use a touchscreen to controll Windows..... That is problem one: I wear gloves, and the screen is behind plexiglass (?! This is a dutch word, i'll guess it's the same in English) because otherwise it would be demolished after the first drops of rain.

What I want, is to combine 5 programs on my desktop and leave no space left.

See second post!

Well, ofcourse this "theme" is not available (i couldn't find it) and i'll have to make it for myself (don't worry, i'm not affraid of opening .txt files ;)). But i'm wondering of Litestep is the exact program i need.

- Via Epia isn't exactly an Intel Xeon.....Is it fast?

- I want several setups of my dashboard (when i'm racing on a circuitday the only info i need is RPM). My thoughts where that with a simple push of a button i could switch between different themes so the lay-out of my dashboard changes. Is it possible, is a change of a theme something you do in 5 secs?

- You guys are Litestep experts: Is Litestep the program i need? Or do you think my ideas won't be compatible with Litestep!

(The speed/RPM/Control-lights will be taken care of by a 2 friends of mine, the first is going to create something for the serial port so the PC gets the data of RPM/Speed etc etc and the otherone is going to write a simple program so windows understands the data it's getting from my motor. Then it's up to me to make something nice in Litestep).

yeah LS can do that. Only problem is you are going to need some form of input to control your display. You could always use something like MouseKeys or some app that lets you move the mouse with a joystick and go that route for control. Either way thats going to have to be done outside of LS so I would start there.

maybe just install like 5 buttons or something, each of which has a specific layout mapped to it...

it's a pretty cool idea though.

A touch screen would be best.

First of all: Thanks for the response!

In The Netherlands it rains for about all the time, so a touchscreen is not possible. I was thinking of creating an sort of USB-hub which I can use to connect a smallsize keyboard to it.
But this is one of my last concerns, because it's easy to attach an USB-wifi key to the computer and controll it from my normal pc (External desktop, VNC-viewer, Radmin those kind of programs).

My biggest concern was speed, and if it was the right program ;). I'm not online much the next upcomming month but when i'm starting to build something i'll post it over here!

well...without any controls whats the point? you might as well just load a wallpaper and be done if you aren't going to use LS for anything.

well, a keyboard (or just about any other type of controller) would be ruined by rain just as well as a touch-screen monitor. maybe look into getting a blue-tooth hub for it, then managing it with a blue-tooth enabled phone?

or simply seal around the touchscreen with something like silicon sealant, and it should be fine with rain.

I was actually thinking of a wireless remote desktop with my pocketpc :) I can controll my pc, but i don't need any extra stuff outside my bike :)
