Can you change your wallpaper? Sure can, just like before. For your second thing, not sure what you mean...

If you mean "Can I change my theme and desktop image independant of each other" yes.

If you mean "Can I just have the desktop image and not the theme" , just get the wallpaper.

I think that covers your possible meaning...

And if 'everything else' means your window-borders and such then yes, litestep doesn't touch your window borders :)

default theme (austerity) ,default module (shortcut2-2.0.1.dll)

rearrange the shortcuts so they appear in 2 rows by editing the co-ordinates

use win2k or better,
use an xmodule, they come with transparency built in
read the docs.
