I have been having issues with using the new theme installer with new themes. When I try to install any theme at all, the newloadmodule tries to ask to get the modules, and after a few seconds it says unable to download module. Its not a connection problem and I've checked, so I think its something simple that I didnt do, but can anyone help a poor noob to litestep out???

Make sure you've done this (second post) first. If you still have problems, reply with specifics.

After installing what you said, I rebooted and tried installing again, without my firewall or anything that culd disrupt it.Once again, the theme installer showed me the themevars.rc file, and I didnt change anything there. After that, it went to the NetLoadModule and tried to download the module for the theme. When it did this, the modules all came back saying unable to download module. Is there another way to get the modules in at all?

are you behind a proxy server?

No, but actually I connected to a wired linksys router with VoIP abilites from Vonage, and I have another hooked up regular wired router from linksys. Does the vonage router have anything to do with it, since it may have a different routing type due to it being VoIP?

shouldn't be...but anything is possible since you don't know what kind of firewall it has setup.

Well i tried disconnecting and reconnecting to the original wired linksys router, and the NetLoadModule still said unable to download module, so as of right now I am completely clueless for any solution, since I cant remove netloadmodule, and I doubt installing themes manually would help getting the modules that they need.

you can download them manually and put them in your archived module folder. but more than likely it is a proxy or firewally issue, it always is.

But, I turned off my firewall (Zone Alarm in fact), and tried to download the modules when asked. The thing is that when it tries to create a connection to get the modules, it looks like it cant even do that, and quickly goes down the line of modules saying unable to download modules, so do you know anything like this that youve heard of before?

If you go into Internet Explorer and click Tools >> Internet Options >> Connections >> LAN Setup is a proxy configured?

Right now I am using mozilla firefox and not the IE explorer on the system, but I checked the proxy server under connections and it was set to be a direct connection, so I don' t think its the proxy, at least when I checked in firefox.

Check in IE. NLM uses IE's connection settings, if I'm not mistaken (like DeV was getting at). Also, do you use any download managers? Apparently those can mess with NLM.

Hey you guys, you two are pure genius. After resetting my IE LAN settings which were strangely completely turned off, after I switched to a simple theme, when asked for the modules it went through the download with ease. So, problem is now magically solved............oh and thanks for all the fish!
