Hi, new to the forums and litestep and i've only run into one snag i couldn't figure out so far.
Diskeeper won't run when i'm using litestep. when i switch back to explorer it runs fine, but it'd like to make it work in litestep so i can use it exclusively. Any ideas? thanks in advance :)

1) What is Diskeeper?
2) Have you attempted to contact Diskeeper support in order to find out if it will work with alternative shells?

1.diskeeper is an alternative to the windows defrag.
2. No, all my other programs works fine, I figured this program would be no different.

has anyone else run into this problem? if so, how did you fix it? thanks again :)

I use Diskeeper 9 with no problems at all. When you say it won't run, you mean it won't start at all via your shortcut? Try running it directly from the file (Diskeeper.msc, NOT Diskeeper.exe).

no like, the program will open, however when i try to analyze or defragment, the program will sit for 15 seconds, then give me some prompt about how the operation could not be started andi should look at the helpfiles and logs.

edit, running from diskeeper.msc solved the problem. for whatever reason it wouldn't work from the program files menu shortcut. thanks xcal :)

so I was correct with #2. Just because all of your other programs work doesn't mean that this one will. Some applications depend on explorer...most of them for no good reason other than bad coding.

no, i got diskeeper to work in litestep. running from the main problem instead of the shortcut fixed it.

no...your exe is depending on something from the explorer shell that LiteStep isn't giving it. Running a MSC file shouldn't be the solution. You should contact the application designers and notify them of your findings so it can be corrected.

For Diskeeper, the application-created shortcut points to the msc file. The exe file is just a command-line executable.

Heh ok...

When you install Diskeeper 9, the shortcut that the installer creates in your start menu points to the diskeeper.msc file. Just saying that is the file you're actually supposed to run to make that program go.

If you run the diskeeper.exe file, you need to do it from a command line because it requires arguments.

Unusual, I know. ;)

then for some strange reason running the msc directly from the folder makes the program work, however, running it from the shortcut, which points directly to the .msc, causes it to not work....very strange. however, i think i will take devilboi's advice and send Executive software a quick email about the shortcut in the program files menu not working under litestep....

well, the default Programs menu shortcut works for me. maybe it just got screwed up on your install.
